About Me

I am a graduate from Western Michigan University with a master's degree in Comparative Religion, with a research concentration on Early and Medieval Christianity. I am many things: an ISTP personality, a proud Gryffindor, a connoisseur of B movies, an avid reader, a lover of beer, and a completely smitten husband.

People who learn what I study often wonder what my religious beliefs are. While I identify as part of the Christian tradition, I no longer consider myself to be a part of the traditional Christian faith. I find personal fulfillment in studying stories of the Bible, but do not view the Bible as a divinely-inspired source of ultimate truth, nor do I put much stock in traditional theological doctrine. Instead, I see my religious tradition as the product of perfectly-flawed fellow humans who were attempting to answer life's big questions, cope with difficult circumstances, and experience the divine, just like I do.
